Hit or Miss - Soul, Funk & Surprises in North London

August 6, 2004 -- Presenting a new night that lays to waste, once and for all, the notion that's there's nowhere AT ALL in Holloway playing decent tunes. Resident djs STEVE NOLAN and STUART PATERSON will be delving deep into their musty sacks and giving up their funk right into your pint glasses EVERY THURSDAY night in the classy environs of Nambucca.

Steve has been playing (at it) for nearly 5 years in his adopted home of Glasgow. He's recently made the move down south and has been appearing at Nambucca and various dubious parties in and around Holloway since November. One who hates to split music into genres the size of a hydrogen atom, his mantra is; if it feels funky then it's going on. Expect anything from The Meters and P-funk to Depeche Mode and the Fire Engines.

Stuart is a regular guest at Nambucca's phenomenally successful Sensible Sundays where he plays his own brand of funk, soul and the best in all things hip-hop. Delights ancient and modern starting at Aretha and ending with Zapp via Flava Flav and Mr Scruff are very much the order of the day.

Nambucca is quickly making a name for itself as the best place in the area to go for music that's not been put through the Pop Idol tune-grinder. Its plush surroundings, which double as a gallery for work from local artists, suit the night's vibe to a tee. Oh, and they pour a good pint as well.
